US-led coalition uses banned weapons against SyriaAccording to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Syria's Foreign Ministry wrote two letters to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the United Nations Security Council on bombing Hajin in eastern Syria by white phosphorus munitions, killing and injuring several citizens.

SANA reported, in the letters to the UN top officials, the Ministry has said, 'Washington-led illegal international coalition has committed a new crime against innocent Syrian civilians after its warplanes on October 13 and 14 targeted residential houses in the city of Hajin in Deir Ezzor Province with internationally banned white phosphorus bombs, which caused the martyrdom and injuring a number of civilians, mostly women and children.'

The bombing is yet another war crime which the coalition has committed against the Syrian people to support the separatist and terrorist groups.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry added the use of prohibited weapons by the coalition has turned into a 'systematic and deliberate' act which runs counter to the principles of international law and human rights.

The Ministry urged the Security Council to fulfill its duty in maintaining international peace and security, to carry out investigations into such crimes and to put an end to the presence of foreign forces in Syria and threats to Syria's territorial integrity.

'The Ministry noted that the Syrian Arab Republic, in its previous letters including its letters dated 6 and 17 August 2017, referred to the international coalition’s systematic use of internationally banned white phosphorus bombs and called on the UNSC to act immediately to stop these crimes and prevent their recurrence,' SANA further said.
