Muslims Should Build Up Rapport, Heal RiftsIn messages on Tuesday, Larijani congratulated his counterparts in Islamic countries and a number of Muslim figures in different states on the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the last messenger of God.

Expressing the hope for close "rapport and fraternity” within the Islamic Ummah (community), Larijani called on Muslim nations to take advantage of the recent success to defeat Takfiri terrorists in Syria and Iraq to promote unity, settle disagreements and counter extremism.

He also hoped for stronger cooperation among Muslim countries and expansion of parliamentary relations.

The 17th day of the month of Rabi al-Awwal on the lunar Hijri calendar marks the birth anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Jafar Sadeq (AS), the sixth Imam of Shiites.

This year, the holy event follows the fall of the self-proclaimed caliphate of the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group in Syria and Iraq.

On November 19, Daesh terrorists were flushed out of their last stronghold in Syria’s Al-Bukamal. The city’s liberation marked an end to the group’s caliphate it had declared in 2014.
